Our childcare Healthy Living Ambassador, Libby Babet, has come up with some fun fitness ideas for you to try out. Check out what Libby had to say to get your kids moving when they’re not at one of our childcare centres:
“Here are some tips to help you help your kids fall in love with fitness, and that by the way, this is really important! Kids are hardwired for rewards, so make exercise something fun, exciting, adventurous and something that feels like a reward for them. Hot tip, what you don’t want to do is tell them that they had to do exercise as a break from TV because that is a way to get them hating on it pretty quickly.
Some ways that we turn our family walks into adventures are to take the kids on what we call ‘Night Walks’. We get really pumped, we might bring a glow stick, or a sparkler/torch and we take the kids for a night walk after dinner.
Another cool way to spice up a walk is to go on “Walk About Sundays”, where we all pack a backpack, put our swimmers in it, put a book in it, put some toys in it it and we just head out and we go for a walk. We can stop at a cafe, go for a swim, play in a new park. All these things that really make it so much fun to be out and together as a family.”
Some other suggestions from Libby include “Holiday at Home”, “Active Game Breaks”, “Family Dance Off” and a “Playground Obstacle Course”. To learn more about these fun fitness ideas, check out the full video here on Instagram.
Don’t forget that we also run our Learn and Grow Fitness Classes in our child care centres, so make sure to enrol you child in one of our day care centres today by contacting us here.
