It’s National Fairy Bread Day at your childcare centre! How can we not celebrate such an iconic kids party snack, right? Our Childcare Healthy Living Ambassador, Libby Babet, has created some recipes for you to try that makes these fun rainbow slices of happiness healthier. Check out some different recipes below:
Sesame Seed Fairy Bread:
First star with some whole meal bread and salt reduced butter with no vegetable oils. Libby recommends using ‘Mainland Buttersoft’ butter. After spreading the butter on the bread, it’s best to spread some sesame seeds over the bread so you don’t have to use so many sprinkles. Once you have covered the bread in sesame seeds it’s time to add a few sprinkles to finish off this healthy fairy bread alternative.
Grated Dark Chocolate Fairy Bread
For this child care friendly alternative all you have to do is swap out the sprinkles for dark chocolate. Once again use your whole meal bread, butter and sesame seeds but instead of sprinkles, grate some dark chocolate over the bread. This healthy fairy bread option has a lot less sugar than regular fairy bread and is still super delicious.
Collagen Cookie Fairy Bread
Last but not least, try Libby Babet’s very own ‘Beauty Food’ Collagen Cookie Fairy Bread. Once again use whole meal bread and butter, however swap out the Sesame Seeds for our childcare healthy living ambassadors very own collagen cookies which come in chocolate, berry and peanut butter flavour. You can purchase these Beauty Food Collagen Cookies at your local Woolworths centre or by clicking here.
