Sukanya
World Square Service Coordinator
I have been working in the Early Childhood industry since I joined Active Kids Group in 2006.
In 2012, I took on the role of second in charge at our Cremorne service and also assisted various Active Kids centers in preparing for their assessment and rating. At the end of 2012, I returned to the City service in the same capacity as a room leader in the Toddler room. In 2021, I accepted the role of second in charge of our City Service and in 2023, I embraced the role of Service Coordinator at the City Service. With over 17 years of experience, I continue to contribute to our vibrant community and welcome new members into our City family.
My role within AKG has allowed me to establish relationships with children, families, and the community while also working closely to support and guide the educators for our CBD Team. Our amazing educators, wonderful lasting friendships and the support I receive from my management team are the reasons I love working with AKG. We have a large team that has created a wonderful community with our families and children over the years in our City service. This makes our centre feel like a home filled with warm laughter and constant joy with families.
My teaching philosophy is to have a professional approach with positive energy and kindness, creating a safe environment that allows children to develop their sense of belonging and promote well-being. In this environment, children have the opportunity to establish and build trust and positive relationships with their peers and educators. I aim to build a safe environment that supports and provides children with opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun. I believe that collaborating with families, educators, children, and communities is key to unlocking each child’s potential. I’m still learning as I go every day that I walk into the center, and it is my privilege to be part of this great team.
I enjoy life with my big family, traveling, and skiing with my husband in Australia and around the world every year. I was also a professional Thai traditional dancer, performing at the royal palace in Thailand. However, most will tell you I am happiest when reading and cooking. I also love spending time outdoors, playing volleyball, biking, skiing, camping, catching up with family and friends, shopping and reading. My goal is to make all families and children feel part of our AKG family through conversations and community engagement in our activities and events. I aim to further my career by pursuing my teaching degree in Early Childhood Education.
